The year's final grand slam tournament kicks off next week Monday. The US Open is played at Flushing Meadows in New York and is the last major tennis betting opportunity of the season.

One thing is certain, this year's US Open is awash with lucrative betting opportunities for any punter or tennis fan who closely follows the game.

A little late for a betting preview as the US PGA Championship has already started, however I'll cover it briefly in this post as it is without doubt one of the best golf betting events of the year.
The Championship which makes up the last of The Majors is in its 91st year and beeing played at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Minnesota from the 10th till the 16th of August.
Tiger Woods is generally rated the best if one considers the bookies odds but there is some stiff competition for him and such a lot of good options for placing a few bets.

Here's the list of web resources for the event:

- The official PGA Championship site by pga.com is naturally an excellent starting point
- The US PGA Championship site is more geared towards betting on the event
- Gambling Guru provided a good 2009 PGA Championship Betting Preview
- The site also supplies live 2009 PGA Championship Betting Odds
- If you want to know more about the course visit the Hazeltine National Golf Club website
- And lastly for news I suggest you visit golf.com

Golf remains one of the less popular sports to bet on but regardless it offers excellent value for knowledgeable fans and bookies have a lot of different betting options for the PGA Championship which can add even more value to the experience.

Best of luck!

On the 28th the Glorious Goodwood, the last big horse racing event of the UK season kicks off.
The Festival spans five whole days offering a plethora of races and as such betting opportunities for punters willing to wager and with some luck cash in on this spectacular event. No doubt the Nassau Stakes and Sussex Stakes are the most popular races of the festival but they are just two amongst many. As always please find below my list of web resources for this premium horse racing meeting:

In two days the biggest golf betting event of the year for UK punters kicks off. The Open Championships, also known as the British Open outside of Britain, is the oldest of the four Majors having been played for the first time in 1860 in Scotland. It is also the only of the Majors which is played outside of the USA and as such attracts more European attention than any of the other three. Regardless of whether you're a seasoned golf bettor or new to golf betting the Open Championships provide an excellent opportunity for excitement and winnings through a historic and spectacular golf championship on British soil.

As always here's a list of interesting resources to check out for the event:

It will be interesting to see whether Aidain O'Brien will once again be providing the winner for the horse race. A list of destinations on the web for the event follow below:

Whilst betting on golf is not as popular as on other sports it does offer some great opportunities for punters willing to try something new. As such I'd like to present the Scottish Open as one golfing event that's coming up which makes for an excellent betting event. Furthermore it makes for a great warm-up before the start of The Open Championship which undoubtedly is the golf betting event of the year for UK punters.

On the flipside, even though Wimbledon has come to a close we have another opportunity for tennis bettors who want some more action with the Mercedes Cup, an ATP event, being played in Stuttgart this weekend.

Some resources for both events follow here:

Barclays Scottish Open (09.07-12.07)
- The official Barclays Scottish Open Site of course features a ton of information
- The PGA European Tour site also features a useful section on the event
- A great resource for punters is the Scottish Open Golf Betting Guide
- Here you can also find a short synopsis of The Scottish Open
- Be sure to read this Scottish Open Betting Preview
- For mainstream news coverage of the event I'd recommend the Guardian Golf News
- Lastly for live bookmaker odds comparisons see the Barclays Scottish Open Golf Betting Odds

Mercedes Cup Tennis Tournament (11.07-19.07)
- The official Mercedes Cup Site is a good starting point
- The ATP World Tour site of course also offers an overview of the event
- The Mercedes Cup Tennis Tournament site is an excellent resource for punters
- The UK Betting Guide also features a page on the Mercedes Cup
- For news the BBC Tennis News is always a good resource
- And for odds comparisons be sure to check out the Tennis Betting Odds Check

I'll be posting another betting event overview for the Irish Oaks later this week.

Even though the horse racing events become fewer and further apart this time of year there are still a few exciting events and the Coral Eclipse Stakes is amongst them. The Group 1 flat race is renowned as the event of the year where a showdown between the the older (4+ years) take on the younger 3yr old newcomers of the year. This provides some exciting betting opportunities for punters!

Some resources:
- The site of the Sandown Racecourse which is hosting the event
- The Racing Post is covering the event in detail, you can find out more here
- The Coral Eclipse Stakes Betting Guide offers a great overview of the event
- Of course the RP has an excellent Coral Eclipse Race Card as well
- And of course be sure to check out the Coral Eclipse Betting Odds for each race

As always best of luck to you all, may your bets be on the winner :)

First off my apologies, I didn't do an update for Wimbledon. Even though it's a little late I'll make on now. Other than that the only event worth mentioning as amongst the betting events is the Irish Derby which I'll cover here as well.

Wimbledon Championships (22.06 - 05.07)
The Grand Slam event has been in existence for 130 years now and over the years has showcased the very best tennis players on the pro circuit. As such it has also become an extremely popular tennis betting event and shouldn't be missed out on as an opportunity to place some well thought-out bets by punters.

Wimbledon Resources:
- The Official Wimbledon Championships website
- News for the Grand Slam from BBC Tennis
- The brief Wimbledon Betting site
- The comprehensive Wimbledon Championships Betting guide
- Free and live Wimbledon Betting Odds
- Here's a good post on where you can watch the Wimbledon matches live

Irish Derby (28.06.09)
The Irish Derby is a flat race for thoroughbred colts and fillies and is the oldest of the 5 Classic Irish races. You may have heard it referred to as the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby, seeing as Dubai Duty Free is the 2009 sponsor for the event. In any case it will make for excellent betting for horse racing punters.

Irish Derby Resources:
- The Derby is run at the Curragh Racecourse, their site has a fair deal of information on the event.
- Horse Racing News by the Racing Post is probably the best way to stay up-to-date
- They also provide Horse Racing Cards, including a very detailed one for the Derby
- The Curragh Derby Festival site provides the most comprehensive overview of the event.
- Check out the Horse Racing Odds Check to get live odds comparisons for the Derby
- And if you want a good tip keep an eye on the Guru's Free Horse Racing Betting Tips
- Or alternatively keep in mind that the Racing Post also has an extensive Racing Tips section.

As always best of luck to all of you!
